- Book early for weekends: Carmel is enormously popular — good rooms on summer and fall weekends sell out months in advance.
- Carmel Valley vs. the village: The village is charming but can be foggy in summer. Carmel Valley (20 min inland) is reliably sunny and offers more space for the money.
- Pet fees:Even "pet-friendly" hotels often charge $25–75/night per pet. Always confirm before booking.
- Parking: Most village hotels are within walking distance of everything. A car is helpful for day trips to Point Lobos and the 17-Mile Drive.
